I'm 25 yr old female, and I recently got really intense pains in both of my knees burning all the way down to my ankles. The pain would not stop. I drink almost everyday but mostly hard liquor, but I recently switched to beer three months ago.
My knees dont look swollen and are not red, and it doesnt hurt to touch it. I couldnt take the pain anymore and went to the emergency room. They checked to all my blood work, and it all came back normal. My uric levels were in the normal range. Even though the night before I drank quite a bit. They sent me for an mri on my back because they thought I have nerve damage. Everything came back normal. The sent me home with percocets and nuerontin because they believe I have nerve damage. So i'm seeing a neurologist in two days. When I take the percocets and neurotin it takes the pain away. Does it sound like I have gout?
Any thoughts are appreciated.

Uric acid levels in the normal range means what? Tell us the exact numbers. Also IF (big if) you have Gout then during an attack the blood uric acid levels can show lower than what they are at other times.
Either way yound lady look after your body and don't be poisinig it with alcohol. What are you trying to achieve by drinking every day? There are better things in life than getting drunk.

Also, what part of your body did you have gout in? I have it in both of my knees, but the pain goes all the way down to my ankles. Sometimes the pain stops in my knees and just hurts where my shin is. Is it normal for gout to attack both of my knees?
And does tyenol or advil usually take away the pain?
I drink a few drinks everyday, just to unwind after work, but you are right its no way to spend life.

This is always a possibility and seems to get missed as easily as gout.
A different treatment for it and equally painful to suffer , I gather.
If you can get body Calcium levels checked, as not high, this may help in your diagnosis.

It is certainly NOT gout, or any other joint disease like pseudo-gout.
As your pain is being controlled, best advice is to wait until you have a better diagnosis from a specialist.
