I have strong family history of IMO severe gout; my younger brother inherited gout which is worsened by his only having one kidney, so I'm trying to stay on top of gout treatments/prevention for him, as well as hoping to prevent gout attacks of my own, since post-menopausal increases the chances of becoming a female sufferer -- I'm not quite there, but am pretty close. My home-monitor UA kit measured me at 6.2 dl/ml (fasting), which is a tad high for a female (normal for females is less than 6 dl/ml). I'm hoping my slightly elevated level was due to holiday eating (more meat than usual, as well as more sweets). I've only had one arthritic attack, which seemed more general arthritis, instead of gouty symptoms - it happened the day after a severe IBS attack (extremely inflamed intestine), leading me to guess it was secondary to extreme inflammation issues.
